Tamron - V - Canon & Nikon May 23rd 2015 @ 9:42pm

Just an interesting point for all photographers who, like us, may well have spent many thousands on high end pro digital camera equipment.

Whilst we will always carry our pro Canon & Nikon full frame digital camera bodies and lenses, we still can’t help but be amazed at the new Tamron lenses hitting the market. In particular, the recent Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD & the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD which are every bit as good as their Canon ‘L’ lens equivalents.

However, we were also surprised by the Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di which can be purchased on ebay for as little as just £240.00. This performed brilliantly and as the images show, via the link, they are almost as good as the far more expensive offerings on the market.

These shots were casual images taken in my garden without any real attention to composition or quality. I have cut and paste a section of the Robin to show the detail the Tamron lens has captured. Sure, a world class wildlife photographer would argue he/she can get better with an expensive Canon or Nikon and he/she would be right. However, he/she may well be paying in excess of £2,000 to achieve that goal. The Tamron cost £240.00!

If you shoot for motor sport or any form of fast sport events, the Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di is an excellent and cost effective option!

Images taken using a Nikon D750 and a Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di at 300mm with the camera set to ISO 500, 400th sec, -0.7 step and f/5.6, hand held.
